At the moment I am trying my hardest to re-establish my daily & weekly routines. Luckily these are routines I'd pretty much cracked before I recently  fell ill , so I am optimistic I will get back in the swing from now. Being forced to take a break from the routines has actually been an opportunity to start afresh and rethink a few things. Why have an evening routine? Well for me it helps set me up for the next day with the right attitude, gets stuff out of my head before bedtime so I sleep better and helps keep the next day a little less stressful. My Current Evening Routine: wash dishes and clean up kitchen counters sweep kitchen floor check menu plan and take out of freezer as required/slow cooker prep. pick out and layout clothes for the next day general house pick up, take stuff back upstairs, put away dry laundry, etc. update my planner and check next day plans put dishes away get ready for bed and relax You'll notice I concentrate main

Another Small Kitchen Cupboard Organisation Project

Image
Spurred on by the success of the last  kitchen cupboard  I tackled, my attention now turned to another small hot mess of a cupboard. This cupboard is basically our medicine cabinet but also the same for our dog. Over time it has become super cluttered and jumbled up. As soon as you reached for something a flurry of other things would slide out onto the kitchen counter or floor below. Not good, so something had to be done. I thought I would share the process I followed and some shots of the end result. Process: 1) Take everything out and as you do throw out anything that has expired (or will do very soon). At the same time make a list of anything you need to repurchase. 2) Wipe down the entire cupboard once emptied. Got to be nice and clean. 3) Group the items you will be wanting to put back in the cupboard into similar categories, e.g. plasters and bandages, pain relief and cold remedies, etc. 4) The fun bit...putting it all back in. Consider which

Time To Reflect

Image
As a teenager I used to roll my eyes as my Mum and Grandma would comment on how fast the year was going, but I realise now that I have turned into them. Seriously how fast is 2016 going? We are half way through September now, so that got me feeling in a bit of a reflective mood. It's important when time is marching past so fast that you pause, take time to breathe and look back a little on what the year has brought so far. So that is what this post is for me. A few personal reflections - ask yourself these questions too...play along if you like. What am I most proud of this year so far? Obviously the blog , but more specifically how consistently I am blogging. I'm someone who in the past has tried many hobbies and honestly none have really stuck for very long. The fact I am still going (nearly at 50 posts now and got to 100 followers  on Bloglovin') is an achievement I am proud of. My boyfriend (arrrrr) - he is two years into his three year long degree a

Coming back from illness

Image
"Pride comes before a fall" - an old proverb but one that is often proven to be true.  At least it has recently been true for me. I have taken such personal pride in how I had managed to consistently do 2 blog posts a week and then "poof" I fall off the radar for a few weeks! I wish it was because I decided to take a last minute world cruise or similar, but sadly no. It was because I fell suddenly very ill at the end of August and have just not felt strong enough to even think of content or ideas to write about until now. Which is good because it shows I am getting better at last. I won't bore you with all the details in this post, but may do a future one on my issues when I know more of them myself. Like most people I have been ill before - sometimes even without alcohol involvement - but I have never ever before been so wholly incapacitated and I do not like that at all. I went from bouncing around feeling pretty normal to being in absolute ag
